The Apartment Squeeze

apartments in Olympia, Washington USAWith the boom in construction apparent throughout the greater Olympia area, it's hard to believe that apartments are in increasingly short supply. But that's exactly what the Olympian is reporting, in an article asserting that apartment vacancy rates are at their lowest in 20 years. Vacancy rates are as low as 3.3% in Thurston County, according to a new survey.

The squeeze is attributed to a variety of factors, including regional job growth, high home prices, and the conversion of some apartments into condos.
